Please donate to Friends of the Rouge Watershed (FRW) so that we can continue to involve thousands of school and community volunteers in the protection and restoration of native forest, wetland and meadow habitat in the Rouge River Watershed and National Park. Forests and wetlands absorb carbon and water to combat climate change and flooding, and they also improve water and air quality, human health and biodiversity.

Over the last three decades, FRW has contributed to the creation of Rouge Park, Greenbelt and Watershed Plans, based on a scientific, community stewardship and ecosystem approach to planning. With the help of more than 65,000 school and community volunteers, FRW has planted nearly ¾ of a million native trees, shrubs and wildflowers to help Mother Nature restore 3.5 million square metres of habitat. In 2016, FRW received the J.R. Dymond Award from Ontario Nature for exceptional public service and environmental achievement. The award ceremony noted FRW’s:

“tireless and inspirational role in the creation of Rouge National Park” and “exceptional work on the ground with stewardship and restoration projects.”

By donating to FRW, you will join the “Friends” family and you will help to educate and inspire youth and community volunteers and leaders while implementing watershed, park and climate change remedial action plans. Your donation will help FRW to purchase native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers; up-keep planting, watering and mulching equipment; and fund two staff persons to coordinate our programs and projects.
