The Elk River is a majestic freestone river in southeast BC that is home to vulnerable fish species. Its tributaries provide extremely important habitat for these fish (especially for spawning).  Many other wildlife species call the river home, including western painted turtles and blue heron, which are ‘species of special concern’.

We need your help to protect the Elk River!

Please donate today to help us monitor the river and use the data to inform the public and decision-makers of any changes to its health. We are concerned about the cumulative impacts of logging, mining and development on the Elk River that could harm many critically important species. That’s why we need to continue our water monitoring program, done by folks from the community since 2011.

With your donations, we will measure and track important scientific information.

We are the Elk River Alliance, a non-profit charity that connects people to the Elk River ensuring it is drinkable, fishable and swimmable for future generations. The Alliance works tirelessly to improve and preserve watershed health.

Please donate today!
The more we know, the more the community can be involved in decision-making and can advocate for watershed health. Collecting this information not only engages, educates and empowers citizens, it also allows the community to be proactive and identify potential issues when they arise in real time. The data that we collect will also help to prioritize future restoration projects.

Let’s keep the Elk River a healthy, vibrant home for fish and wildlife by working together.

Thank you for your help!
